2017 Advanced Training Course on Cell Culture Processes and Bioreactor Engineering successfully concluded!

On August 23, 2017, the third advanced training course on cell culture process and bioreactor engineering were completed, with more than 90 participants from more than 60 enterprises, research institutes, and universities across China participating in this training.

This training course was jointly organized by the Animal Cell and Tissue Engineering Laboratory of the State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering and Shanghai BioEngine Sci-Tech Co., Ltd. The lecturers were Prof. Wei-Shou Hu from the University of Minnesota, Prof. Wensong Tan, Director of the Animal Cell and Tissue Engineering Laboratory of East China University of Science and Technology and Chairman of BioEngine, and Dr. Weichang Zhou, Senior Vice President of Bioprocess of WuXi AppTec. Dr. Chen Ze, Chief Scientist of the Shanghai Institute of Biological Products, and Dr. Ouyang Anli, Director of Cell Line Construction, Fermentation, and Cell Culture R&D of Eli Lilly and Company, were invited as guest lecturers.

The training was closely integrated with the current situation of China's biopharmaceutical industry and viral vaccine production and focused on various topics such as key engineering issues in the cell culture process, cell culture process scaling up and down, cell culture process analysis technology (PAT), production process control strategies in biopharmaceutical process engineering, etc. The content covered the fundamental theories of cell biology, process engineering, and bioreactor engineering in the large-scale high-density culture of animal cells. The lectures covered the fundamental theories of cell biology, process engineering, and bioreactor engineering in the large-scale high-density culture of animal cells, and discussed in depth the engineering issues in moving from laboratory to industrial production of animal cell expression products.

The three days of exciting lectures mobilized the interest of each participant, and the participants carried out in-depth communication and discussion with the lecturer on the problems they encountered in their work.

 Many participants said that this course provided a platform for R&D personnel and production technology managers to learn and communicate and combined basic theory with practical application, which provided new ideas to solve problems. In this training, they can learn something and receive a timely "refueling" and "charging".
